Irresponsible speech

The Sept. 15 lead editorial ("Lesson for the Street: Americans Are Not About to Give Up Free Speech") reminds us that America is the standard bearer for freedom of speech around the world.

However, I remember being taught that with rights come responsibilities and, to use the old cliche, that freedom of speech does not allow us to shout "fire" in a crowded theater. In a sense, that is exactly what the producers of anti-Muslim propaganda are doing.

We know that some people have very short fuses on their bombs and to deliberately provoke them knowing full well that an action could and probably will result in violence seems to me to be morally irresponsible. When responsibility goes by the wayside, freedom does too.
