Invaluable jobs

Really? When letter writer Dave Stroud ("New Taxpayer Obligations Won't Bring Jobs," June 19) sees a policeman, a teacher or a meat inspector, all he sees is "financial obligations for ... taxpayers"? He sees no value in highway construction, firefighting or disaster relief? I guess his disdain extends to soldiers, park rangers and defense workers (after all, they wouldn't be employed except for the taxpayer).

Maybe he and his Fox friends should move to Somalia. There the dream of a place with no government is alive and well. It's dangerous, poverty-stricken, dirty and without a middle-class -- but, hey, there's no government, so it must be paradise.
