This letter is in reference to the article concerning our 16 homeless people who were living under the railways on the North Side, but no more ("Dirt Pile Signals Eviction for 16 Homeless," Aug. 25). Yes, Pittsburgh was once voted the most livable city and all were proud to say that's our city! Who is it livable for? Do we include our homeless or do we use the phrase "out of sight, out of mind"?

Yes, we offer many good shelters: churches, Light of Life mission, to name a few. We commend them, of course. God bless. Let us also not forget the everyday, common people who also remember the homeless.

Every city has its homeless and probably always will. But let's go, Pittsburgh, and make our city known for taking care of our homeless.

It's costing $300,000 to fill with dirt those spaces used by the homeless? Wow! The song "Imagine" by the late John Lennon comes to mind for what could have been done and what could still be done.
