Holiday hi-jinks

In light of the recent attacks by Gov. Tom Corbett and the state Legislature on prevailing wage, infrastructure funding, the environment and funding my children's education that have wreaked havoc on my finances, I felt that nothing positive could come out of Harrisburg. My fears were unfounded.

Rep. Garth Everett has heartened me ("Lawmaker Collecting Funds for Imprisoned Predecessor," Dec. 5). He has taken up a collection for disgraced, convicted and imprisoned peer and former colleague Brett Feese. Mr. Feese's inmate account will be full to the brim for Christmas!

My family may be suffering from the policies of the state Republicans -- my children may not have cable television or extras in their stockings this year -- but the generosity extended to Mr. Feese fills my heart with joy and restores my faith in the humanity and compassion of those selfless legislators in Harrisburg!

This will be the best Christmas ever.
