He's wrong again

The Rev. Neil McCaulley ("100 Percent Right," March 8 letters) is 100 percent wrong once again, like his Dec. 1 letter "Dignity Matters," in which he misrepresents John Paul II's teaching on Catholic voting. Father McCaulley flat out rejects Catholic doctrine on women's ordination. In John Paul II's apostolic letter "Ordinatio Sacerdotalis," he proclaims "the church has no authority whatsoever to confer priestly ordination on women and that this judgment is to be definitively held by all the church's faithful."

A year later the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith stated that the teaching in that letter had been "set forth infallibly by the ordinary and universal Magisterium." John Paul went on to forbid priests and nuns from even discussing women ordinations publicly.

Maybe Father McCaulley and like-minded Catholics ought to consider joining another denomination or starting their own church.
