In regard to the anti-gun hysteria that most of the media is feeding upon, the Post-Gazette not excluded, I'd like to make the following points:
1. The U.S. has the most freedom of any country precisely because the citizens are armed. While the framers of the Bill of Rights did clearly have in mind that, if necessary, it is the right of the people to overthrow a government that has become tyrannical, the fact that the populace is armed keeps the government from becoming tyrannical. Furthermore, it is the right to bear arms that protects all other rights.
2. Facts have shown gun control does nothing to decrease gun violence. Take the extreme case of our brethren in England, and it's clear gun control only strips law-abiding citizens of their ability to defend themselves. Remember, criminals are criminals because they don't obey laws.
3. It is time to do something about school shootings. It's time to reverse the failed government policy of making schools a "gun free zone." Reality has shown multiple times "gun free zones" are massacre zones. The most dangerous places in this country are the so-called "gun free zones".
4. The Obama administration and others such as Sen. Dianne Feinstein are either ignorant of these facts (doubtful), or are willfully using the recent school shooting as an excuse to further their agenda to control the masses.
