Concerning the Post-Gazette's endorsement of Rep. Tim Murphy ("Re-elect Murphy," Oct. 19): You state a lack of experience and knowledge on the part of Larry Maggi, Mr. Murphy's opponent in the coming election.

The PG bases this concern on one meeting with Mr. Maggi and the Post-Gazette editors, who in their indomitable wisdom deemed Mr. Maggi ill-equipped to deal with the momentous decisions incurred by our legislators.

Mr. Murphy encounters no such indecisiveness -- he simply votes as his party leaders wish. When listing Rep. Murphy's less-than-stellar voting record, you forgot to mention this affirmative vote: the "yes" vote on the Paul Ryan budget proposal -- you know, the one that would do away with our Medicare and replace it with a voucher system.

Tim Murphy may have earned the Post-Gazette's endorsement, but he certainly hasn't earned my vote.
