Is Bryan J. Randall of McCandless ("For a Turnaround," Sept. 8) serious that Mitt Romney and Republicans in general care about the middle class and helping those in need? What planet does he spend his time on?

Trickle down (up) economics (voodoo economics), deregulation (banking), monster tax cuts to the job creators and shrinking union membership have all played major roles in destroying the middle class. These are all championed by the Republican Party.

The stronger union membership is the stronger the middle class is. Everyone benefits through higher wages, union or not union.

Republican job creation is this: You will have to work three jobs to make what you used to make with one job. In their minds that is two jobs created.
