I am dismayed that the shooting of three people at a football game for 7- to 9-year-olds was placed on page 13 of Sunday's paper ("3 Shot at Youth Football Game in East Liberty"). This shooting took place in East Liberty. If the shooting had taken place in Upper St. Clair, Fox Chapel or Sewickley the tiny photo on the front page would have been larger and front and center.
This wasn't the first time a shooting took place at one of these games. Where were the police? The article says they were en route. Why weren't they there before the game started? A large police presence discourages anti-social behavior.
This was to be a fun day for these families and it turned into a nightmare and it has happened before. Terrified children and adults who attended the event may never get over this experience. As long as our city is not outraged at shootings like this they will continue and no one but thugs will want to live in these communities.
