Regarding "Local Farmers Cultivate Customers on Assistance" (June 18): Praise and gratitude to the local farmers for their continued efforts in making fruits and vegetables available to those who need assistance.
I was just in Cuba for two weeks and applauded the work farmers are doing for their people there. Each farmer kept saying, "We've got to take care of our people." Although they received the land from the government, they are looking out for all people.
Wouldn't it be nice if our government would give the farmers a break in their efforts to provide food for those needing assistance here in the United States?
