Empower Obama against the NRA

Things are getting very crazy in this country. On Jan. 19, a 15-year-old boy shot and killed both his parents and his three siblings in New Mexico. This catastrophe did not make it into the Post-Gazette for three to four days and it was a small paragraph on page four.

Had I not lived in Albuquerque, not too long ago, I probably would not have even noticed this story. The paragraph didn't have much detail, so I called a friend who lives there. One of the guns used was a semiautomatic assault weapon. Why would a 15-year-old have access to such a weapon?

Stories like this need to be front-page stories, with more detail. We need to see this mess in its entirety, so we get disgusted and are prompted to action. We need our president to get the support necessary to make certain that background checks are mandatory to buy a gun, and that assault weapons will no longer be available to the public.

People are starting to stand up and voice their concerns, but the NRA is very powerful. We need to empower President Barack Obama to be able to get this country in order, despite the opposition from the NRA.
