County helped me

I read with sympathy about letter writer William T. Farrell's attempts to get a voter ID card at the Penn Hills license center on which his name matched the name on his voter card ("Two Attempts So Far," Sept. 16). I assume that by "voter card" Mr. Farrell means his voter registration card.

I had the same experience as Mr. Farrell's when I found that the name on my driver's license did not contain my middle initial whereas my name on my voter's registration card did contain the middle initial. I was able to take care of the problem without any great trouble. The helpful staff at the Allegheny County Elections Division (telephone 412-350-4500) sent me a new registration card without a middle initial.

I hope that all eligible voters will check to make sure that the name on their voter registration card matches that on their photo ID card and will ask for help from the county elections division if it does not.

To be safe, I will sign this letter without my middle initial.
