Climate ideology

Astronomer Phil Plait ("Earth Is Warming Faster Than We Thought," March 14 Perspectives) wishes to dismiss anyone who disagrees with rampant global warming alarmism as apparently not being "scientists who actually study the climate." This is an odd disqualifying comment from a man who received his Ph.D in astronomy with an associated thesis on supernovas.
Clearly, if one agrees with the theory of catastrophic man-made global warming that can only be cured through increased taxes, throttling of the Western economies and wealth transfer out of the industrialized nations, it is credential enough to lecture us peons. Obviously those who remain skeptical of these Chicken Little doomsday claims cannot be serious scientists or hold legitimate positions. However, there may be universal agreement with Mr. Plait's conclusion that we have a manufactured and ideological controversy.
