Behind the times

I am a graduate student and after a long day at school, work and the library, I would like to be able to pick up a six-pack at the gas station or grocery store on my way home from classes. Unfortunately, union leaders want to keep Pennsylvania's inconvenient monopoly over alcohol sales despite a poll that said their members are in favor of privatization.

From my perspective, it sounds more like they have an issue with losing their salaries or supporting anything from the desk of Gov. Tom Corbett. But it's time they and Democrats got out of the way and represented the true feelings of their members around the commonwealth.

Practically every other state in the country has that convenience, including all the states surrounding us and anywhere my family tends to go on vacation. It's time we join the 21st century.
