My friend Dale Abraham is 100 percent right about riding the Amtrak train, the Pennsylvanian ("Rail Service to New York Must Be Saved," Feb. 22 letters). It is an important service. People in this region need it, and the benefits far outweigh the cost. And it is a positive experience.

By coincidence I just got back from a train trip, and it was my pleasure to ride that train they're trying to get rid of, plus a couple of other Amtrak trains.

Let me merely add to the points that Dale made that the Amtrak crew members whom one encounters on the trains and also in the stations are genuinely pleasant and helpful. True! Let's applaud this highly professional train service and support it.
