A soldier's right

I met a very elderly man in McKees Rocks who said he's always voted but no longer had a photo ID. I explained he might have trouble voting this time around. To which he replied emphatically, "I'll show them my World War II discharge papers and then let them try to stop me. Nobody's taking away my vote."

As he departed with dignity, I realized sadly, come Election Day, this old soldier would be challenged on exercising the very right for which he fought.
