A peaceful action

The Presbyterian Church should, at the very least, divest from companies that support Israel's illegal occupation of the Palestinian West Bank ("Presbyterian Divestment Vote Riles Jewish Leaders," June 28). Divestment is a widely used peaceful tactic that is meant to put economic and political pressure on Israel to end its occupation, grant equal rights to its Arab citizens and allow Palestinian refugees to return to the land that they were forced to leave in 1948.

To suggest that divestment is anti-Jewish, as many of those quoted did, is absurd.
