2 miners rescued in Ohio

Two miners emerged uninjured from an Ohio mine Wednesday after they spent nearly 10 hours underground when the mine's roof collapsed.
Amy Louviere, a spokeswoman for the Mine Safety and Health Administration, said the workers became trapped when part of the roof at Hopedale Mining Co., about an hour west of Pittsburgh, collapsed about 9:30 a.m.
Rescue crews were able to communicate with the workers, who told them they were unharmed, but could not reach them.
Crews worked to remove rocks from the mine floor to clear a path to the workers and reached them about 7:30 p.m.
Mine workers referred questions to their supervisor, who declined to comment aside from saying that everyone made it out safely and a maintenance crew was about to assume its duties.
Ms. Louviere said, "MSHA will conduct a thorough investigation and, if we determine that the company committed a violation that contributed to the accident, we will cite it accordingly."
The facility, which is used to mine bituminous coal, employs 153 people.
