Saccone appears to have edged Levdansky in 39th

State Rep. Rick Saccone, R-Elizabeth Township, will again eke out a win over Democratic challenger Dave Levdansky in the 39th District House race south of Pittsburgh.

On election night Mr. Saccone held less than a 40-vote lead on Mr. Levdansky, of Forward, but after election officials did their final checks the last few days the incumbent's lead grew to 114 votes. Mr. Saccone finished second to his challenger in Allegheny County at a final tally of 11,101 to 11,411 votes, according to elections chief Mark Wolosik, but his gains in Washington County put him over the top. He won there with 3,385 votes to 2,961 for the Democrat, according to their elections head Larry Spahr.

The results are expected to be certified by the county election boards Friday.

Mr. Saccone, a retired U.S. Air Force officer and professor at St. Vincent's College, beat Mr. Levdansky, a a 26-year incumbent, by 151 votes in their 2010 race.
