Obama expected to tell voters choice is clear

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- When Barack Obama speaks tonight he won't ask voters to choose between himself and Mitt Romney. Rather, he'll ask them to choose between two different paths for America.
"When you pick up that ballot to vote, you will face the clearest choice of any time in a generation," Mr. Obama will say, according to excerpts of his speech just released by his campaign.
At stake are big decisions on "jobs and the economy; taxes and deficits; energy and education; war and peace," according to theexcerpts.
He is expected to lay out a list of goals for the nation. His plan calls for creating a million new manufacturing jobs, doubling exports, adding jobs in the natural gas sector, stemming college tuition increases, reducing spending on war and cutting the deficit by $4 trillion over the next decade.
"I won't pretend the path I'm offering is quick or easy. I never have," Mr. Obama is expected to tell 15,000 delegates and guests tonight.
Delegates, including those from Pennsylvania are looking forward to the president's remarks and wondering how he'll top his wife's speech Tuesday or President Clinton's Wednesday.
"He better be ready because Michelle set the bar really high. She could have been the candidate the way she spoke to our hearts, our minds and our concerns," said delegate Ann McCafferty of Morningside.
