Monday's closures of county courthouses across the state has led Gov. Tom Corbett to extend allow some counties to extend today's deadline for applying for an absentee ballot.

That deadline of 5 p.m. today is still in place for Allegheny County. The governor announced Monday night that counties could extend that deadline by one day for each day their courthouse is closed this week as a result of storm damage, allowing Philadelphia and other eastern counties that again closed their offices today to accept applications through Thursday.

Completed absentee ballots still must be returned to counties by 5 p.m. Friday.
