Pitt to pay new general counsel $350,000

A committee of University of Pittsburgh trustees this morming met to set the salary of the school's new general counsel, P. Jerome Richey, who began his job March 1.

His salary will be $350,000 following a vote by the board's compensation committee.

Mr. Richey succeeds as the school's top legal officer, Jerome Cochran, who had simultaneously held that role as well as being the university's executive vice chancellor.

Mr. Cochran will remain the school's executive vice chancellor,.

Mr. Richey comes to Pitt from Consol Energy, where he served since 2009 as chief legal officer and executive vice president.

In January, he received other responsibilities as the company's executive vice president/corporate projects.
