An orchestra concert scheduled for tonight at Carson Middle School in the North Allegheny School District has been canceled.

Officials posted a letter announcing the cancellation after the school was evacuated today when a detailed bomb threat was discovered in a boy's bathroom shortly before noon.

Students were sent to the intermediate high school, and sent home at their regular time.

Carson Principal Katherine Jenkins and Brian Miller, assistant superintendent of K-12, said in a joint letter that the McCandless police were called, and bomb-sniffing dogs were brought in to sweep the campus. Security will also be in the school overnight.

Students will not be permitted to bring backpacks or large bags, and will have limited movement through the building tomorrow, the officials said.
