California University of Pennsylvania's Geraldine Jones today ceased to be the school's acting president, becoming interim president.

The State System of Higher Education's board of governors approved the change during a special meeting this morning.

Its action followed a recommendation in support of the name change from CalU's council of trustees, which earlier this month cited Ms. Jones' strong job performance since assuming the presidency in May after the firing Angelo Armenti Jr.

Officials with the State System have said the title change does not impact the scope of Ms. Jones'

duties. The State System has not yet announced a formal search for Mr. Armenti's permanent replacement.
