Thief ransacks vehicle in Westmoreland

State police are investigating the theft of nearly $2,000 worth of cash and equipment from a vehicle in Westmoreland County.

Donald Bosley, 58, of New Alexandria, told police that sometime late Friday or early Saturday, someone entered a vehicle parked on Sears Drive in Salem and took a briefcase containing cash, a checkbook and other papers worth $900.

Also missing were a wallet, a global positioning system device, a laptop computer and a camera with a total value of $1,080.
