A Westmoreland County teen was killed when a deer ran in front of a vehicle, causing the driver to lose control and crash into a tree early Thursday morning.

Justin T. Malik, 17, of Herminie, was riding a car traveling through New Stanton just after 1 a.m. when witnesses said the driver lost control of the vehicle on 321 Arona Road, the Westmoreland County coroner's office said in a news release.

Witnesses said the car went off the road and struck a large tree, then continued into a cyclone fence. Justin was wearing a seat belt but was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy performed Thursday concluded he died of head, chest and abdomen injuries sustained in the accidental crash.
