Teen killed in Westmoreland County crash

An unidentified teen was killed early this morning in a one-car accident in Cook in Westmoreland County.

State police said the 17-year-old boy was traveling south on state Route 711 about 4 a.m. in a Mitsubishi Eclipse when he veered off the side of the road, then crossed both lanes of traffic and hit a concrete culvert and a tree. The impact with the tree split the vehicle in two and ejected the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
