Westmoreland County school bus crash injures SUV driver, passenger

A Chevrolet Blazer passing another vehicle crashed head-on into a school bus that had just loaded students at a Westmoreland County intersection, leaving the SUV's driver unconscious and injuring his passenger but not injuring children, according to Washington Township police.
Dwayne Miller, 44, of Vandergrift drove the 1996 Blazer heading south when he tried to pass a vehicle driven by Lawrence Ross, 61, of Freeport.
A school bus heading north had just picked up Kiski Area High School students at the intersection of Route 66 and Pleasant Valley Road when Mr. Miller's Blazer slammed into the bus head-on, police said.
Students were uninjured, police said. Placed on another bus, they went to school, police said.
Two medical helicopters flew Mr. Miller and his female passenger, whom police did not identify, to hospitals in Pittsburgh. Police said their injuries were "severe."
Washington police said they anticipate filing charges against Mr. Miller.
