Pedestrian killed in Westmoreland County crash

A Westmoreland County man was killed when he was hit by an SUV in Unity Township Saturday night.
The Westmoreland County Coroner said in a news release on Twitter that 41-year-old Robert W. Steininger of Youngstown was on foot when he was struck about 9:30 p.m. by an SUV traveling north on state Route 982, a half-mile north of state Route 30. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The autopsy ruled the death accidental and revealed Mr. Steininger died from injuries to his head, chest and abdomen.
Pennsylvania State Police in Greensburg investigated the incident.
