State police arrested three people involved in the shooting death of a man in Derry Township and are still searching for the suspect accused of pulling the trigger.
Around 1 p.m. Saturday, state police in Greensburg were called to a mobile home at 131 Stone Quarry Road and discovered Michael Volk, 24, of New Florence dead in the hallway from multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
Witnesses at the scene described a robbery gone wrong, in which Mr. Volk had attempted to rob a drug dealer known as "Mitch," who in turn killed him.
Jesus Santiago, 42, rented the mobile home where the shooting took place and lived there with his girlfriend Tiffany Blattenberger, 22, and their two small children.
He told police Mr. Volk had come over the night before to buy drugs from "Mitch," and Mr. Volk intended to return Saturday to rob the man of drugs and money.
Ms. Blattenberger told police that she and Mr. Volk's girlfriend, 23-year-old Danielle Clawson of New Florence, who drove him to the mobile home, also were aware of the robbery and left the scene before it took place.
Ms. Blattenberger said they returned and were held at gunpoint by the suspect, "Mitch," for a half-hour. He took her cell phone and battery as he made a call to another person before fleeing.
As a result of their statements on their knowledge and participation in the robbery, Mr. Santiago, Ms. Blattenberger and Ms. Clawson were arrested today and charged with conspiracy to commit criminal homicide and conspiracy to commit robbery. All three were taken to Westmoreland County Jail.
Police are still searching for the suspected killer, described as a black male, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, 180 to 200 pounds, wearing gray sweat pants, gray hooded sweat shirt, and an Oakland Raiders winter skull cap. Witnesses said he has a chipped front tooth. He left the scene in a sporty two-door, two-tone maroon car.
Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to call Trooper Bigelow PSP Greensburg at 724-832-3288.
