Victim identified in Route 30 crash in Hempfield

One person was killed in a crash this morning in Hempfield, Westmoreland County.

Jeffrey Horner Jr., 22, of Irwin, was driving east on Route 30 at a "high rate of speed" when he crossed the center line near the intersection with Possum Hollow Road about 9:15 a.m. and collided with a dump truck, according to the Westmoreland County coroner's office.

Mr. Horner, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown out of his car and died at the scene of the crash. The dump truck driver was not injured.

Snyder Funeral Home in Ligonier is coordinating funeral arrangements. State police from the Greensburg barracks are investigating.
