Motorist found dead after striking boulder in Unity

A Ligonier woman was found dead early Thursday morning after the car she was driving crashed into a boulder.
Kerry Bittner, 41, was found inside a car on Youngstown Ridge Road in Unity shortly before 1 a.m. The engine of the car was still warm, so officials believe the crash occurred about midnight, according to the Westmoreland County coroner's office.
Workers there said Ms. Bittner was the only person in the car when it was traveling east, failed to make a left-hand curve and "climbed a small embankment" before striking the boulder.
Speed was likely a factor, according to the coroner's office, and Ms. Bittner was not wearing a seat belt.
