Westmoreland County authorities investigate Monessen killing

Authorities in Westmoreland County are investigating after a man was found shot to death this morning in Monessen.

Police were called to the 900 block of Maple Avenue just before 12:30 a.m. where they discovered a 36-year-old man dead inside a home, Monessen police said in a press release.

The Westmoreland County Coroner's Office identified the man as Chris Fincik and said he lived there.

Evidence has been recovered and removed from the property, police said.

An autopsy is scheduled for today. The coroner's office, county detectives bureau and the county public safety department are investigating.
