The Westmoreland County Coroner's Office said a man died of a heart attack as he was driving along Route 30 eastbound on Tuesday.

The man was identified as Edward Stoecker Jr., 73, of Ligonier.

The coroner's office believes Mr. Stoecker suffered the fatal heart attack and then lost control of his pick-up truck around 6 p.m.

The vehicle struck the guard rail multiple times, went over an embankment and came to rest at the edge of a creek about 500 feet west of Trillium Lane. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
