Friday's bitter cold snowstorm seems in retrospect to have been a perfect prelude to a two-decade-old ice carving demonstration in Ligonier.

The 22nd Annual Ligonier Ice Fest, to be held today and Sunday, features artists carving ice sculptures from blocks of ice. Carving begins at 10 a.m. today and noon on Sunday within one block of the Diamond area.

Also today, the 3rd Annual Chill Chaser sill be held from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Ligonier Theatre, 208 West Main St. For $20, those 21 and over can enjoy homemade soups from Bethlen Communities, hearty breads from Darlington Inn, a variety of local wines and a live local band. Reservations are requested and can be made by calling 724-238-6514.
