A Westmoreland County amusement park will add a "Lazy River" attraction to its water park in time for the 2013 season.

Idlewild & SoakZone's "endless" lazy river will be 15 feet wide and 603 feet long -- or the length of two football fields.

Designed for families with small children, the lazy river will be two feet four inches deep and will have a

large zero-depth entry zone. Kid-sized tubes will complement adult tubes so families can play together.

In addition, about 6,000 square feet of new beach area featuring cabanas and chaise lounge chairs will

provide relaxation areas.

Park spokesman Jeff Croushore said a lazy river feature has been guests' most requested attraction in the SoakZone water park.

The park will hold a naming contest for the lazy river, with a pair of 2013 season passes as the prize, he said.
