Students attending Franklin Regional high school and middle school should avoid bringing bags to school on Friday so they don't get slowed down by a search, administrators said Thursday night.

"Given the heightened sense of awareness surrounding school security and our desire to err on the side of caution," additional Murrysville police officers and uniformed security officers will meet students at the school entrances, administrators said in a statement posted to the school's website.

Bags and purses brought into district buildings might be subject to search, they said.
