A Pittsburgh man suspected of driving under the influence in Salem late Friday night was taken into custody after being pursued through various parts of Westmoreland County, ending in Jeannette, state police said Saturday.

Troopers at the Kiski Valley barracks said Ashlee B. Samuels, 24, was driving a vehicle reported stolen two hours earlier from Pittsburgh.

State police said the incident occurred between 10:30 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. After trying to stop the suspect for a traffic violation on Route 819, he drove away, state police said.

Charges will be filed in the office of the district magistrate, state police said. Troopers from the Greensburg and Indiana barracks assisted along with Greensburg and Jeannette police.
