A 53-year-old Johnstown man killed Tuesday when he fell off a roof in Ligonier died as a result of injuries suffered in the fall, the Westmoreland County medical examiner's office said this morning.

Cian Yates was putting up a roof on a business at 321 West Main St. when he fell onto the asphalt parking lot below at about 5 p.m.

He suffered head injuries and was declared dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Joshua C. Zappone.

Dr. Cyril H. Wecht and Pathology Associates performed the autopsy Wednesday and ruled out other causes. The exact cause of death was "blunt force trauma to head and chest" as a result of Mr. Yates's fall, the autopsy determined.

Hoffman Funeral Home of Davidsville will handle funeral arrangements.
