Four people were arrested after Monessen police said they found 8,000 packets of heroin and nearly $8,000 in cash inside a house Thursday night.
Monessen police Chief Mark Gibson, declining to go into detail, said officers obtained a search warrant Thursday night to enter a house in the 400 block of Motheral Avenue because they suspected drug activity was taking place there.
They found one man -- Nick Haluschak, 32, of Star Junction -- standing outside the home and charged him with possession of drug paraphernalia, the chief said.
When officers entered the home, they found the drugs inside, along with some scales, Chief Gibson said.
Sheldon Davis, 26, who lives at the home, hid in a bedroom, while Ronza Ford, 32, of Monessen, tried to jump out a window and Delmar Pritchett, 22, of Monessen, hid in the basement, the chief said.
Mr. Davis, Mr. Ford and Mr. Pritchett were all taken to the Westmoreland County Prison.
They were awaiting arraignment this morning on multiple drug charges, the chief said.
Chief Gibson said Rostraver police and a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration task force assisted his officers.First Published July 20, 2012 9:29 am
