3 injured in Westmoreland County crash

A medical helicopter flew three people to a hospital by after a head-on collision this morning in Washington Township, Westmoreland County.

Washington Township police said 32-year-old Christopher Kane, of Pittsburgh, was attempting to pass two vehicles on Route 66 southbound near Turack Road before 8:30 a.m. when his Chevrolet Avalanche crashed into a Chrysler van driven by 54-year-old Rita Holtman, of Export, in the oncoming lane.

Ms. Holtman and two passengers were flown to Allegheny General Hospital.

All were alert, talking and able to identify themselves, though medics told police Ms. Holtman's condition was critical, police said.

Mr. Kane was uninjured.

Washington Township police are investigating and said they expect to file charges against Mr. Kane through District Judge Jason Buzcak's office in Washington Township.
