Woman killed in one-vehicle crash in Washington

A passenger in a vehicle traveling in Washington was killed early this morning when the SUV struck a utility pole.The victim, Rebecca Elizabeth Soffel, 21, of Venetia, Washington County, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 2 a.m. accident in the 200 block of East Maiden Street, according to Washington County Coroner Timothy Warco.According to the coroner's office, the driver lost control of the Jeep while traveling eastbound and the vehicle slammed into the utility police.The driver, who was not identified, was taken by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital.
