A Washington County man was killed Sunday morning when he was ejected from the car he was driving as it went over a guardrail and struck an embankment in the village of Avella, Independence Township.

Clarence Ernest Dudley, 26, of Avella, was pronounced dead at 8:35 a.m., said Tim Warco, Washington County coroner. He ruled the cause of death as blunt force trauma.

An emergency dispatch supervisor said the accident happened at 6:50 a.m. on Route 50. Mr. Warco said Mr. Dudley was driving west when he failed to navigate a right bend.

His vehicle crossed the center line, went over the guardrail and struck an embankment, Mr. Warco said. Mr. Dudley was ejected from the car and found by a passing motorist.

State police at Washington are investigating.
