Washington County man charged with indecent assault of 12-year-old girl

A Washington County man remained in jail this morning after police said he inappropriately touched a 12-year-old girl.
Gary Fordyce, 54, of Bentleyville, was arraigned on an indecent assault charge Saturday afternoon before District Judge Mark Wilson, who set his bail at $25,000. He is in the Washington County Jail.
In a criminal complaint, police said the assault was reported by the girl's mother Friday evening about 8 p.m. Police interviewed Mr. Fordyce's wife, who said she walked into his bedroom and saw him touching the girl under her skirt.
Mr. Fordyce was taken to Southwest Regional Police Department headquarters in Belle Vernon, where police said he admitted to touching the girl inappropriately.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 6.
