Officials in Washington County announced today that they have obtained arrest warrants for 52 people suspected of dealing drugs.

Twenty-two of those people had been arrested as of 2 p.m. and officials found another three people wanted on bench warrants for other crimes while doing their round-up, Assistant District Attorney Joe Zupancic said.

Mr. Zupancic said most of the drug dealers were selling cocaine and heroin, although some were selling marijuana as well.

For nearly a year, undercover members of the district attorney's Drug Task Force conducted small hand-to-hand drug deals to try to find dealers, Mr. Zupancic said. He said most of the dealers in today's bust operated out of the city of Washington and some worked in Claysville and the Mon Valley.

Aiding in the investigation were members of the Washington County sheriff's office, state police, adult probation office and city of Washington police department during the investigation.
