Robinson, Washington County, supervisors voted 3-0 tonight to deny two requests by Range Resources-Appalachia to drill the Marcellus Shale.

The board voted against granting conditional-use approval for multiple natural gas wells on two properties on Midway-Candor Road and Valleyview Road.

Chairman Brian Coppola said Range Resources has failed to provide sufficient information and documentation to comply with township law.

Late last month, Range Resources filed lawsuits against Robinson in Commonwealth Court and the Washington County Court of Common Pleas, claiming the firm is entitled to plan approval, said Jonathan Kamin, special legal counsel for the township.
