Police seek Union bank robbers

Southwest Regional police are looking for two men who robbed a bank in Union this afternoon and left the broken getaway car abandoned along a nearby road.
Chief John Hartman said two men with silver pistols walked into the Huntingdon Bank on Sheridan Avenue about 3:50 p.m. and demanded money from the teller. They drove away in a white Ford Escape that lost its oil filter.
Southwest Regional police learned the car could only travel a few miles without the filter and asked local tow truck companies to contact them if they found a vehicle matching the getaway car's description.
Between an hour and an hour and a half later, a tow truck company called police to say they had found the car abandoned alongside a nearby road. Inside, a dye pack had exploded. Money had blown on the road and passersby collected it and turned it over to police.
But the robbers -- one of whom had been wearing a bright orange hunting vest -- were not in sight.
Chief Hartman asked anyone with information to contact his department at 724-929-8484 or the FBI's Pittsburgh office at 412-432-4000.
