A second Washington County fire official was arrested today after police accused her and her husband of stealing from the department they helped run.
Traci Fedrick, 37, and Victor Fedrick, 42, both officers in the Allenport Fire Company, withdrew $9,210 from the department account between May 2010 and December 2010 and used the money for purchases that weren't related "to fire company business," according to the regional police force for Roscoe, Elco, Stockdale and Allenport, called R.E.S.A. Regional.
According to a criminal complaint, the pair used a department gas card to buy more than $4,000 in gasoline between January 2011 and October 2011.
The department cars run on diesel, police said.
Mr. and Ms. Fedrick each face 159 felony counts of theft, receiving stolen property, fraud and conspiracy.
Ms. Fedrick was arrested this morning and released from the Washington County Correctional Facility on $75,000 bail this afternoon.
She is "very distraught" over the charges and has worked as a first responder in various capacities since she was a teenager, her attorney, Alan Benyak, said.
Mr. Benyak said he did not believe police interviewed his client before they pressed charges and that she would be able to explain the purchases. R.E.S.A. Regional police could not immediately be reached for comment.
Mr. Fedrick was arrested Friday and remained in the Washington County Correctional Facility on $75,000 bail today.
Both Mr. and Ms. Fedrick are scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing at 11 a.m. Monday.
