Passenger killed in Washington County SUV crash

A passenger in a sport utility vehicle traveling in Washington, Pa., was killed early Saturday when the vehicle struck a utility pole.
Rebecca Elizabeth Soffel, 21, of Venetia was pronounced dead at the scene of the 2 a.m. accident in the 200 block of East Maiden Street, according to Washington County Coroner Timothy Warco.
According to the coroner's office, the driver lost control of the Jeep while traveling eastbound and the vehicle slammed into the utility pole.
The driver, who was not identified, was taken by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital.
