The Meadows Racetrack and Casino will close between 1 and 4 a.m. tomorrow so repairs can be made to the casino's power and surveillance systems.

Meadows spokesman Tom Meinert said that the repairs will likely cost the casino $15,000 to $20,000 in lost gambling revenue.

The repairs are necessary because of damage caused by a power surge late last August, Mr. Meinert said. A nearby car crash brought down a 2,500-volt wire that caused a temporary power outage and damage to the casino's power and surveillance systems.

The casino must close during surveillance repairs because Pennsylvania Gaming Control regulations require constant monitoring of gaming activities.

Mr. Meinert said there are usually about 200 to 250 people gambling around the time of the repairs. "We're doing this final upgrade at a time of minimal impact to the customers," he said.
